Who Can Vote in Missouri?
The 2022 election season is almost upon us but in order to vote, you must ascertain if you’re qualified. To be able to vote in the state of Missouri you need to meet the following criteria.
- You are a citizen of the United States
- You must be a resident of Missouri
- Must be 17-1/2 years old to be able to register to vote but must be 18 years old by the time of the election to vote
- Not be on probation or parole after conviction of a felony, until finally discharged from such probation or parole
- Not be convicted of a felony or misdemeanour connected with the right of suffrage
- Not be adjudged incapacitated by any court of law or confined under a sentence of imprisonment

Voter Registration Deadline in Missouri
For the first time since a new congressional redistricting map became law in May, Missourians will have the opportunity to vote in primaries for their new U.S. House and state legislative districts.
Wednesday, July 6 is the deadline to register for the Aug. 2 primary election, and Wednesday, October 12 is the deadline to register for the Nov. 8 general election.

- Register by mail deadline: Must be postmarked by the fourth Wednesday before Election Day
Vote In-person
Voters in Missouri can look up where to vote on the secretary of state’s website at Missouri’s site.
Missouri does not offer registration on election day or an early voting period. If you will be unable to vote in person on Election Day, you can request an absentee ballot by mail or visit your local election office.

Vote by Mail
Missouri offers absentee ballots by mail to voters who are unable to vote in-person while every other voters are expected to vote in-person.
- Review the absentee ballot application and confirm that you meet the eligibility requirements for voting absentee.
- Fill out the application completely.
- Submit the request to your local election office.
- When your ballot arrives, read it carefully and follow the instructions to complete it and return it.
Missouri Voter Registration Status

If voters move to a different address in the same county, they can change the address on election day at the new polling place. However, if voters moved outside where they were previously registered, voters will need to fill out a new voter registration form.
In addition, voters will be given a limited ballot, containing federal and statewide candidates if they move after the registration deadline. They will also be issued a voter registration application in person with the local election authority.

FAQ on How to Register to Vote in Missouri
What form of ID is acceptable to vote in Missouri?
Acceptable forms of government-issued photo ID include a driver’s license; non-driver’s license; US passport; or military ID. If you do not have a government-issued photo ID, you can also show one of the following forms of ID: a voter registration card; ID from a Missouri university, college, vocational or technical school; a copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, paycheck, government check or other government documents that contain your name and address.
What happens when I don’t have any valid ID?
If you are unable to provide an ID, you will be able to cast a provisional ballot and your ballot will count only if your signature matches the signature in the voter registry or if you return to your polling place and show a photo ID.
